Triangle Choke

Triangle Choke

A "Triangle Choke" in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a submission technique where the attacker uses their legs to form a triangle around the opponent's neck and one arm, applying pressure to constrict blood flow and force a submission by choking the opponent out, essentially creating a triangle shape with their legs around the opponent's neck and arm, causing them to tap out or lose consciousness if the pressure is maintained.

Key points about the Triangle Choke:

Mechanism:
The choke is applied by wrapping one leg around the opponent's neck and the other leg behind their elbow, effectively trapping their arm within the "triangle" formed by the legs.

Origin:
This technique originates from Judo, where it is called "Sankaku-jime" which translates to "triangle choke".

Application:
The Triangle Choke is commonly used from the guard position in BJJ, allowing the bottom fighter to control their opponent and potentially submit them.
