A basic knee block sweep is a great combination with the cross collar choke in the butterfly guard. The technique to sit up in this position is in our fundamentals section and repeating that drill will make the transition to this move much easier.

Snap down back take from seated guard
The snap down is a solid option from the butterfly guard when your opponent learns back away from the potential cross collar choke. ****Make sure you jump back as far as possible which pulls your opponent forward creating the snap feeling.

Sean Flanery shows a classic loop choke attack from the closed guard. The loop choke is an excellent combination with the traditional cross collar choke and can also be used as a reversal if your opponent rolls out of the submission.

SPF shows the variation to the classic cross choke in this video. Notice the body movement side to side while keeping only the small of his back on the mat. Proper movement will make defending your collar chokes much more challenging for your training partner.
