Guillotine Choke

The guillotine choke is a grappling move in Brazilian jiu-jitsu that involves wrapping an arm around an opponent's neck and applying pressure to restrict blood flow to the head. It can also be performed as a neck crank.

How it works:
The opponent's arm is wrapped around their trachea.
The opponent's hands are clasped.
Pressure is applied upwards to restrict blood flow to the head.

Potential consequences:
Unconsciousness.
Death.
Paralysis.
Damage to the trachea, larynx, hyoid bone, and other parts of the neck.

    Like all guillotines from the guard, moving your body into the wedge position is the most challenging aspect of the technique. The wedge allows us to lean forward and apply pressure to the back of our opponents neck. ***A good drill is to practice just moving from the guard to the wedge position.
